Each year Apple releases new devices around this time of the year, and so is this year. But this year is quite special for Apple as well as for the devices that are to be launched, and for us, as we can expect some major upgrades to the existing iPhone models as well as other Apple products.
First-off this year’s release marks the 10 years of the iPhone since it first went on sale in June 2007 just after five months of unveiling by Steve Jobs in January 2007. So this year is the 10th anniversary of the product that made Apple world’s most valuable tech company.
Basically we can expect lots of major updates to the existing products from Apple, but here’s the round-up of what Apple will be launching on this September 12th event.
As it is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, the device will really be on the spotlight. Thus, based on the leaks circulating the world wide web, we are expecting three new iPhone models.
Apple is said to launch two ‘S’ models with just consecutive updates from the existing iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. But the third device to be launched will be housing some major updates such as facial recognition for unlocking the device, an edge-to-edge OLED display (which is said to drive the price of the new iPhones a bit higher), wireless charging (though Apple might sell the charging dock separately), a resizable home button (a lot of rumors and leaks surrounding this feature), and a new ‘Blush Gold’ color.
Along with the new iPhones, Apple is going to launch to the public its latest iOS version which comes with major updates such as new customizable control center, file management app called — Files.
Some additional features include ‘Do Not Disturb While Driving’ to prevent you from being distracted by unnecessary calls and text messages, QuickType keyboard — to easily type with one hand, and an all-new App Store with a major redesign to help you easily discover new apps and games, as well as daily stories from experts, along with a dedicated games tab and much more.
Unlike the iPhone, Apple Watch is not the product that needs an update every year but we are expecting Apple Watch 3 to be launched along with the new iPhones on this event.
The new Apple Watch is said to be equipped with LTE modem to let the watch make phone calls, send text messages, stream music, and even install new software without the help of the iPhone. Basically, with the LTE modem the watch will now become more usable without the iPhone near-by. Thus making this new watch much more independent from the iPhone as compared to its previous models.
WatchOS 4 is also expected to launch along with the new Apple Watch.
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is said to launch a new 4K Apple TV which can stream ultra-high-definition videos with more bright colors. The Apple TV has only received two updates since its release by Steve Jobs in 2006, thus this can be a major update as well.
One more thing...
To add more excitement to this iPhone anniversary event, Apple is going to launch all these latest products in the Steve Jobs theatre — a brand-new 1,000-seat auditorium which is located in the newly constructed $5-billion campus called — Apple Park.
