One of India’s leading smartphone maker, Micromax will manufacture its mobile phones in India by 2018.
As confirmed by Micromax co-founder – Rahul Sharma, that within next 24 months, 100 percent smartphone production will be done in India instead of China, as manpower is far cheaper in India.
Micromax recently announced a $45 million investment for building new manufacturing units in the country to cut import and production costs from China.
Also, Micromax is currently the largest smartphone seller beating Samsung in India.
In addition to Micromax, other smartphone makers such as OnePlus and manufacturing giant Foxconn has also announced development of manufacturing units within the country to easily meet smartphone demands locally.
Electronic companies are really eyeing India for large investments with players such as Apple planning to open dedicated local stores for selling its smartphone directly in the country.
