Golden Temple among the most visited places in India, according to Facebook

We spend a lot of our time daily on major social platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, sharing a lot of information such as photos, videos, news, and random stuff with friends and family. Among those daily posts, some become so important that those get listed as most discussed on social networks nationwide or globally.

Thus, social platforms releasing annual reports showing us what was important and giving a sneak preview of what could be important during the coming year. With Twitter recently releasing its annual report of most important topics, Facebook has also released a similar report showing most discussed topics, visited places, and most used stickers by its users.

For most discussed topics, Primer Minister Modi tops the list followed by late A.P.J Abdul Kalam – Dr. Kalam passed away last July 27th, 2015.

Thanks to companies like Flipkart, Snapdeal, and Amazon, e-commerce has been really booming in the country and making it to the most discussed topics list on Facebook. As well as disaster like Nepal Earthquake in April, which injured over 23,000, and killing 9,000 people.

Most discussed topics from the entertainment industry for India are Baahubali movie, as well as names like Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone. Also, events like Cricket World Cup, IPL, and Bihar Elections are on the list.

While for the most visited places in the country, India Gate and Taj Mahal still top the list followed by Marine Drive Mumbai, Nandi Hills, and then Gateway of India. Har ki Pauri, Haridwar, Qutub Minar, Mussoorie and Ramoji Film City are on the list as well.

In addition to that, the holiest place for Sikhs – The Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) is also on the list of most visited places.

For most used stickers, Bigli Migli, Minions, Angry Birds, and Rilakkuma make up the list as most used on Facebook.

Worldwide stats include Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, including Ronda Rousey as most talked about athletes, along with Stephen Curry and LeBron James on top seven and eight respectively.

Obviously, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which is set to release on the 18th of December this month and Furious 7 – came after Paul Walker’s death are the most talked about movies, along with top TV shows such as Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.

According to Facebook, the top lists were based on how frequently a topic was mentioned in Facebook posts from January to December 2015. Check out the full list on Year in Review report by Facebook.
