WhatsApp adds starred messages, rich link previews, including Bengali and Urdu languages support on Android

WhatsApp has been updated with support for starred messages, rich link previews, including Android Direct share allowing you to share content to WhatsApp from other apps.

These features were initially introduced on iOS and now Android getting similar features' support as well.

With this update, WhatsApp adds three major features such as starred messages – which lets you star (bookmark) a message for later. To star a message, tap and hold on any message in a chat, then click star. To view your starred messages, go to Chats tab > Menu > then Starred Messages.

Rich link previews automatically shows link headline and preview image, along with an option to remove preview when sending hypertext links in your WhatsApp messages.

While for Android M users, WhatsApp adds support for Android Direct share, which lets you easily send content from other apps to specific chats in WhatsApp.

Additionally, along with these major updates, WhatsApp now supports two major Indian languages – Bengali and Urdu.

Also, WhatsApp’s recent update for Android added Google Drive support allowing you to backup your chats and media to Google Drive easily.
