Yesterday, OnePlus launched a new affordable 5–inch dual-SIM smartphone – OnePlus X. Starting from ₹16,999, the device will be available in two models – limited Ceramic edition and Onyx black glass. The device will be available starting November 5th.

This seems to be a simple yet powerful feature to have more control over your device, as Alert Slider gives you the option to receive all notifications, priority-only, or no notifications at all. Without turning-on and sneaking into your device’s settings.
OnePlus X comes with a 5–inch AMOLED (Active Matrix LED) Gorilla Glass 3 display. The full HD display houses 1080x1920 pixels at 441 PPI.
Powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.3GHz and 3GB LPDDR3 RAM. The device comes with 16GB built-in storage, with an option to expand it up to 128GB using MicroSD.
OnePlus X has a 2,525mAh LiPo battery, along with a 13-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front camera, having the ability to shoot 1080p resolution videos.
The weight of the device differs depending on the model, as Ceramic model weights at 160-grams and Onyx model weights much lighter at 138-grams.
OnePlus X runs OxygenOS, custom version of Android 5.1.1 developed by OnePlus. OxygenOS comes with unique features like Custom buttons – which allow you to customize your device’s navigation buttons.
With Ambient display feature, your device automatically lights up when you pull it out of your pocket to check notifications, without pressing any buttons on your device. Other features similar to Android Marshmallow like – app permissions are also available on OxygenOS.
OnePlus X’s starting price is at ₹16,999 for Onyx black glass model, while the limited edition Ceramic model is priced at ₹22,999 in India.
As mentioned by the company, Ceramic model will not be launching in the United States but for UK, it is priced at £269, while €369 for the rest of Europe. The Onyx model will be available in the United States for – $249, UK – £199, and in Europe – €269.
Though similar to other OnePlus devices, you can only buy the device via the invite system due to limited supply as mentioned by the country general manager for India. Onyx model will be available from November 5, while the Ceramic model will be available for sale starting November 24 on Amazon India.
As mentioned by OnePlus, only 10,000 units of OnePlus X Ceramic will be made available globally.
In addition to that, OnePlus X will be the first device from the company that will be produced in India, thus becoming the first Made in India smartphone. OnePlus recently announced its partnership with Foxconn to start producing its smartphones in the country, and as announced, the production will start by the end of the year.
Since production is yet to start in India, initial devices that will go on sale from November 5, will still be produced in China.
