With the latest update to Skype, the company has added Bollywood Mojis and Indian culture inspired emoticons. For users to express themselves through short video clips and vibrant emoticons when words are not enough.
Mojis are short video clips from popular Bollywood movies and TV shows, which you can send directly to Skype chats. These new short video clips are from popular Bollywood movies, with names like Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, and many more.
For adding Indian Mojis, Skype has worked with major Indian studios like Yash Raj Films and Eros International to bring video clips from movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Doom 2 & 3, Devdas, and many more.
You can send a Moji by tapping on the emoticon icon, which gives you the option to either browse by movie or by expression, preview the emoji, and then send it to your chat.
In order to improve speed and load times, these short video clips will remain cached on the app for reducing download times and resources as videos can consume mobile data heavily, making the feature fun yet lightweight to use.
According to Gurdeep Pall – Corporate Vice President at Skype, currently, there are around 100 Mojis available on Skype, and the company will keep adding new ones with subsequent updates, and the option to create custom Mojis will also be added soon.
Our goal is to provide the best possible messaging experience on Skype, and tapping into India’s extremely active and vibrant film culture is a perfect way to do that.
In addition to Bollywood Mojis, Skype introduces new Indian culture inspired emoticons for food, gestures, and festivals like – Diwali and Holi.
Bollywood Mojis and emoticons will be available on Skype for Windows desktop, Mac, Android, iOS, and even on Skype for Web. As mentioned, the company is working for Mojis’ support on Windows mobile.
