Google celebrated Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s 67th birthday

Google today celebrated sufi maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s 67th birthday with a doodle for Google India and Pakistan homepage.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was born on 13 October 1948 in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. He was popularly known for is Qawwali and Sufi singing style. He is popularly know as Shahenshah-e-Qawwali which means King of Kings of Qawwali. Khan is also known for introducing Qawwali music to international audiences.

As a tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Google said,

He opened the world’s ears to the rich, hypnotic sounds of the Sufis and helped bring ‘world music’ to the world.

Some of his famous Qawwalis are Allah Hoo, Data Tera Darbar Hai, and Mera Piya Ghar Aaya.
