17–year old selected as Digital India brand ambassador

In the latest press release, Government of India announced four brand ambassadors for Digital India programme. The names of the four brand ambassadors are the following, Satwat Jagwani – 17 year old IIT–JEE (Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination) topper, Ankit Fadia – the ethical hacker, Krati Tiwari – also an IIT–JEE topper, and Pranav Mistry – 34 year old inventor and Global Vice President of Research at Samsung.

The primary job of these ambassadors would be to promote and help market Digital India to increase brand awareness which in return would help bring in more investors and users for Digital India.

Launched by Prime Minister Modi on July 1, 2015. Digital India is a project by the Government of India to provide government related services like healthcare, education, and banking electronically. The project also aims to promote and educate Indians to utilise technology.

Satwat Jagwani belongs from Satna, Madhya Pradesh has topped 2015 IIT–JEE by scoring 469 out of 504 which helped him secure the spot as brand ambassador of Digital India.

Pranav Mistry is an inventor and currently the Global Vice President of Research at Samsung. He is best known for his work on SixthSense, and Samsung Galaxy Gear. Additionally, Mistry has researched on several topics like wearable computing, augmented reality, machine vision, collective intelligence, and robotics. Prior to joining Samsung, Mistry has worked with Google, Microsoft, and NASA.

Among the selected as ambassadors were Krati Tiwari, she hails from Indore and also a IIT–JEE topper ranked 47th among the exam toppers. Ankit Fadia’s name was confirmed by the government later in the day compared to the other three. Ankit Fadia is an author, speaker, and self–proclaimed ethical hacker. Fadia’s work is mostly related to computer security and ethical hacking, he also have written several books and offers security related certification courses.

Selecting professionals from different fields would help Digital India spread its awareness across the country and internationally.
