A few days ago Japan announced $140 billion investment over the next five years to modernise railway stations across India. This investment includes modernisation of 400 railway stations which will be upgraded with modern technology focusing on sanitation by implementing waterless and odourless toilets across rail stations and trains.
With this modernisation plan, Japan will also help Indian Railways in achieving zero accident mission, this is really important for the safety of passengers.
Recently joining this project is Google, who will be providing free WiFi access across 400 train stations using Google Fiber technology. It is also said that Google will also be expanding this project (named Project Nilgiri) across other Indian cities to provide internet connectivity across the country.
This seems to be a big step toward Digital India.
